Good morning, Dayton!

Here’s Your Daily Dose of Dayton
Did you know…Dayton inventors Thomas Midgley Jr. and Charles F. Kettering developed Freon, the refrigerant that revolutionized cooling and refrigeration in 1928.

The hot scoop warming up your winter:

  • Stay safe and savvy this season with winter weather tips, holiday scam alerts, and local event highlights.

  • Celebrate community and culture with Dayton artisans, festive markets, and sneak peeks of the 2026 Blue Angels Air Show.

Thick brush, tangled woods, and overgrown acres don’t just make your property look neglected—they limit how you can use your land. Trails disappear. Space gets wasted. And clearing it by hand feels impossible. That’s where Buckeye Land Services comes in.

We now provide high-power forestry mulching, the fastest and cleanest way to reclaim your land without damaging the soil. Our equipment pulverizes brush, vines, saplings, and undergrowth on the spot, turning it into nutrient-rich mulch that improves your soil while leaving your property clean, open, and instantly usable. No burning. No piles. No hauling. Just transformation.

Whether you’re carving out new trails, expanding your yard, prepping for a future build, or finally taking back acreage that’s been untouched for years, our team delivers professional, efficient clearing that dramatically improves visibility, access, and property value. The difference is night-and-day—and most projects are completed in a single day.

Serving landowners across the Miami Valley, we bring the right equipment, the right technique, and the local expertise to make your land work for you again.

Winter Weather in Dayton: Stay Safe and Prepared

Dayton is settling into a stretch of true winter weather, with forecasters saying Thursday night could be the coldest of the week and a light dusting of snow still possible in spots. ODOT crews, more than 1,100 statewide, have been working around the clock to clear roads after the latest storm, logging over 123,000 miles in just 24 hours as they plow turn lanes, berms, and leftover slush. Drivers are also asked to give road crews plenty of room, especially since many workers have been on duty since last night, and to allow extra time for travel on slick roads.

Local meteorologists say the cold will hold steady through mid-week, with another quick round of flurries possible. Experts recommend brushing snow off cars completely, keeping a winter kit handy, and driving cautiously so Dayton residents can enjoy the season while staying safe.

Blue Angels Land in Dayton Ahead of a Historic 2026 Air Show

The Blue Angels, formally recognized as the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, sent two representatives: Lieutenant Commander Lilly Montana and Lieutenant Ronny Hafeza, who touched down at Dayton International Airport this week as part of pre-season planning for the 2026 CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show. The team’s visit is part of routine winter site reviews that set the schedule and safety plans for the Blue Angels’ 2026 season and for Dayton’s show on June 13–14. Organizers say next year’s event will be extra special because it coincides with America’s 250th birthday and the Blue Angels’ 80th anniversary, and planners expect large crowds similar to last year’s roughly 75,000 attendees.

For Dayton families, the visit is more than a spectacle preview: it signals summer events that bring tourism, local business activity, and a shared community moment under the home skies of the Wright brothers.

Discover the Best Local Eats, Cozy Spots, and Hidden Culinary Gems This Week!

BOCK FAMILY BREWING

Just south of Dayton, Bock Family Brewing is a true family-built brewpub—German-style bier hall, Nordic lounge, and Celtic room included. Founders Jen and Ian Bock spent a decade planning and literally built the space by hand, creating a cozy, all-ages hangout that now sports a 4.8 ⭐ Google rating.

They brew small-batch beer, mead, and cider with a big focus on sustainability (spent grain goes to local farms, the brewhouse runs on 100% renewable power) and pair it with German-inspired comfort food like Bavarian pretzels, wurst platters, and Reuben bowls plus a kids menu. With darts, shuffleboard, board games, trivia nights, live music, craft days, and more, Bock Family Brewing has become a welcoming, inclusive spot where just about everyone can find “their” room and settle in.
