📚 Schools Closed Through Week After Winter Blast
Dayton Public Schools will not hold classes Thursday or Friday this week as extreme cold and ongoing snow impacts continue following a major winter storm. The district also canceled all extracurricular, after-school, and athletic events during the closure, though officials say some athletic events might resume if conditions improve. Only essential grounds and transportation staff are expected to report to work while families deal with winter’s lingering effects.
💼 Dayton-Based CareSource Expands TRICARE Role
Dayton-headquartered CareSource Military & Veterans has secured major federal contracts to run TRICARE managed care services in the Tampa and Atlanta regions as part of a Defense Health Agency demonstration project. The work, expected to begin in 2026, could be worth tens of millions and gives eligible service members and families another option for Prime coverage in those markets.
🔒 Safe Exchange Zones Aim to Protect Buyers and Sellers
Montgomery County authorities are promoting designated “Safe Exchange Zones” in Dayton to help residents complete online marketplace transactions more securely. These monitored areas, located at local sheriff’s substations, are meant to reduce robberies and robberies linked to meeting strangers for item exchanges and deputies suggest meeting during daytime hours and bringing someone along.
More Than 200 Tails Wagging Into New Homes This Month
