Local Groups Partner to Bring Beds to Kids in Need: Several Dayton organizations, including Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Bockrath Flooring & Rugs, and CareSource, teamed up to deliver new beds to children across the Miami Valley. Volunteers spent the day assembling and delivering the beds to families who needed them, making sure every child had a comfortable place to sleep. Guided over the phone by dispatchers, he performed CPR—something he had never done before—and helped save her life. In honor of Veterans Day (November 11, 2025), all City Offices in Dayton will be closed for the day. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, November 12.
Southwest Ohio has received its first significant snowfall of the season, with measurements reaching up to 3.5 inches in some Montgomery and Greene County neighborhoods. This accumulation has created slick and hazardous road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. Residents are strongly urged to exercise caution when traveling and to prepare for potential cold weather impacts in the coming days.
At the November 5 Dayton City Commission meeting, Commissioners Judy Dodge, Matt Joseph, and Chris Shaw were honored for their leadership with the Montgomery County Food Equity Coalition, advancing local food security efforts. Miranda Brooks and Bonnie Clling introduced the 2025 Dayton Bosnia Youth Leadership Program, hosting 18 students and three teachers from Bosnia, strengthening international community ties. The commission approved city manager recommendations for improvements at Community Golf Club, including cart path and drainage upgrades. Key legislation advanced included the Safe Streets and Roads for All Safety Action Plan (Resolution 6899-25) and the 2026 budget ordinances, focusing on city safety and fiscal responsibility. GAME HIGHLIGHTS
The Dayton Flyers women’s soccer team clinched the Atlantic 10 title after a nail-biting 0-0 draw, topping Rhode Island 5-4 in penalty kicks. Senior midfielder Riley Kerber scored the winning PK, and Senior keeper Batoul Reda was named the Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Player honors for her standout performance. This clutch victory—securing Dayton’s eleventh A-10 crown—has the whole city buzzing with pride as the Flyers head into the NCAA tournament.
The Dayton Flyers showed hometown grit in a close 77-71 win over UMBC at UD Arena. Senior Javon Bennett led the charge with 16 points and 7 assists, while Keonte Jones dazzled both offensively and defensively, scoring 12 points with five steals. Senior Jacob Conner also hit double-digits, scoring 10 points to tie his career-best as a Flyer. The victory was a proud moment for Dayton neighborhoods as the team held strong on defense, forcing 15 turnovers and making key plays down the stretch.
The Wright State bowling teams made Dayton proud this weekend, earning top honors at the annual Raider Classic hosted at Beaver Vu Bowl. The Green squad rolled past the competition, taking first place in their division with a score of 7,091 pins and defeating Cumberlands in the finals. The Gold group also impressed, landing second place after a close finish against Marian and marking a strong 6,647 pin count. Standout players included Alli Shattuck, who led with a remarkable 221.75 average (887 pins), Mia Sayles with a 216.0 average (864 pins), and Hannah Dingledine with a 203.0 average (812 pins).
