TOGETHER WITH

Good evening, Dayton!

Here’s Your Daily Dose of Dayton
Did you know... the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton sits on the site of a former mansion district, and its collection includes a genuine woolly mammoth skeleton recovered from Ohio soil - a reminder that this part of the Miami Valley looked very different about 13,000 years ago.

Your Sunday evening Dayton rundown:

  • Over 150 artists from across the country transformed downtown Dayton this weekend at Mural Fest's fifth year.

  • A new Huber Heights coffee shop celebrated its grand opening by raising $13,000 for Dayton Children's Hospital.

  • Dayton is earning national recognition as one of America's top cities for investment and economic growth.

DAYTON DIGEST

Dayton's Streets Are a Canvas, and 150 Artists Just Proved It

Mural Fest returned to downtown Dayton for its fifth year on May 1-2, drawing more than 150 artists from across the country to paint murals across the Front Street arts district and well beyond. What began as a "parking lot party" with just a handful of creators has grown into one of the largest street art festivals in the nation. Organizer Daniel Wells of Brick City Artworks says the community makes it possible: artists traveled from cities including Detroit and Brooklyn, New York to contribute work, each bringing their own style to Dayton's walls, fences, and shipping containers. Pieces stretched as far as the Second Street Market, where muralists decorated the retaining walls beneath the nearby train tracks.

A Note From Rob:

Dayton has always been full of people with good intentions, who care deeply about animals.

People who would absolutely give a dog a good home or welcome a cat into their family if they just knew about it at the right moment.

So, we decided to help bridge the gap. That’s what this is about - connection.

Starting now, the first Pet of the Week each month isn’t just a feature. It’s a commitment.

A standing partnership with SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center to help one special animal find a home.

Put directly in front of thousands of Dayton locals who actually read, care, and take action.

Because this audience has already proven something:

When Dayton Daily Dose points attention at something, people respond.

And that matters.

SICSA provides animals with care, support, and a safe place to land while they wait for the right match. They get to know each pet, advocate for them, and help prepare them for their next chapter.

We do something different.

We make sure that person actually sees them.

That’s the bridge.

And it’s simple enough that it almost feels obvious. Which is exactly why it works.

What We’re Asking You To Do

If you’ve been thinking about getting a dog or cat, don’t scroll past this.

Look at this pet.

Actually consider them.

Because the reality is this:

For that animal, this isn’t just a feature.

This is a window of opportunity.

If It’s Not You, It Might Be Someone You Know

This only works if it reaches the right person.

Not the most people.
The right person.

So, here’s the ask:

Send it to the friend who’s been talking about getting a new pet.
The couple who just bought a house.
The family whose kids keep asking for a pet.

You’re not sharing a newsletter.

You’re putting an animal directly in front of the person who might change their life.

Why This Matters

We’re building Dayton Daily Dose to be more than information.

More than events.
More than recommendations.
More than ads.

It should be useful. Yes.

But it should also do something.

This is one of those things.

One animal at a time.
Every month.
Until it compounds into something bigger than a single feature ever could.

Start Here

Meet this week’s pet.

Because there’s a real chance…

their next home is already reading this.

Meet Trinket

She's small, she's brave, and she's ready for her forever home.

Trinket is a little Rat Terrier mix with big, curious eyes and an even bigger heart. She was found outside one day with a group of other small dogs, and a very kind person made sure they all got somewhere warm and safe. Nobody came to bring Trinket home, so SICSA has been taking wonderful care of her while she waits for the right family to find her.

Trinket is a little shy at first, kind of like the new kid at school who needs a little extra time to feel comfortable. She does not want to be picked up right away, and that is totally okay. What she does want is to be near the people she loves. She follows her foster mom everywhere, like a tiny, fluffy shadow. She peeks around corners to check on her. She sneaks onto the couch at night just to be close. And her absolute favorite part of every single day? Vienna Sausage time.

What Makes Trinket Special

Trinket gets along beautifully with other dogs, cats, birds, and even a fish tank in her foster home. She is gentle and curious and just needs a little patience while she learns that the world is a safe and loving place. Once she trusts you, she is the most loyal little companion you could ask for.

Who Would Make Trinket's Dreams Come True

Trinket would do best in a calm, quiet home with a patient family who understands that some friends just need a little more time to open up. A gentle dog or cat already in the home would help her feel welcome. If your family has lots of love to give and plenty of patience to share, Trinket might just be your perfect match.

There is a dog out there who wants nothing more than to follow you around the house, steal a spot at the foot of your bed, and remind you every single day that even shy little hearts are full of love. That dog is Trinket.

This pet is available through SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center 8172 Washington Church Rd, Washington Township, OH 45458
