DAYTON DIGEST
❄️ Snow Emergencies Now in Effect Across the Miami Valley
Several Miami Valley counties have now declared snow emergencies as the winter storm continues to blanket the region with heavy snow and hazardous road conditions. Depending on the county and emergency level, authorities are advising either cautious travel or no travel at all unless absolutely necessary. This comes as local officials work to keep roads passable and residents safe.
🚗 Zero-Tolerance Traffic Enforcement in Kettering School Zones
Kettering police have rolled out a new zero-tolerance policy for traffic violations in school zones, meaning drivers will be cited — and not just warned — for things like speeding, failing to stop, or ignoring posted signs. Officers are out reminding motorists to slow down and watch for kids and school staff. The move aims to improve safety around local schools.

Staying Safe and Healthy During Winter Storm
As snow and dangerously cold temperatures move through the Miami Valley, local health officials are sharing important reminders to help Dayton residents stay safe. Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County says shoveling snow is intense physical work that can place serious strain on the heart, especially for older adults and those with existing health conditions. Officials recommend taking regular breaks, pushing snow instead of lifting when possible, and stopping immediately if you feel chest pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath. They also warn that frostbite can develop quickly in extreme cold, urging residents to dress in warm layers and limit time outdoors. These precautions are meant to prevent winter-related injuries and help neighbors look out for one another during the storm.

Meet 𝗧𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆, a lovable 4‑year‑old Schnoodle from Beavercreek whose cheerful spirit can light up any room. Her owner, Jackie T., first found her through a breeder in Northern Ohio—drawn to the same mix of sweetness and smarts she once adored in a childhood Schnoodle. Now grown and full of love, Tilly shares that same comforting presence as a certified Pet Therapy dog, bringing calm and connection to hospitals, senior homes, and local schools.
Known for her gentle nature and signature little leg lift (her polite way of asking for tummy rubs), Tilly makes every encounter feel special. At home, she keeps Jackie happily on schedule, especially when it’s time for a walk! 🤩 Out and about, she’s eager to greet neighbors and soak up affection, with liver treats and chewy bones ranking high among her favorite rewards. Though she owns three cozy beds, Tilly’s heart belongs to the sofa, the perfect spot for an afternoon nap.
