The service will run twice daily in each direction and offers a more affordable travel option with wifi, restrooms, and outlets on board. Tickets go on sale starting Wednesday, Feb. 11, and fares will be up to about $30 before tax. ๐ Dayton Metro Library Seeks Local Poetsโ Best Work
The Dayton Metro Library has opened submissions for its 2026 poetry contest, inviting creative voices of all ages across Montgomery County to participate. Poems should be original, no longer than one page, and submitted by March 6 for a chance to be featured at the Poetry Showcase on April 23 at 6:00 p.m., with prizes for top finishers in each age group. This is a great way for local writers (from kids to adults) to share their words and connect with the community through art. Details and submissions are available on the libraryโs website.
๐ฐ๏ธ Wright State Named Partner in U.S. Space Command Initiative
Wright State University has been selected to join the U.S. Space Commandโs Academic Engagement Enterprise, placing it among a select group of universities nationwide involved in space and defense education. This new partnership gives students and faculty expanded access to real-world space research, internships, and collaboration opportunities with the Space Command and peer institutions. Wright Stateโs proximity to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Air Force Research Laboratory makes Dayton an important hub for space-related innovation and workforce development.

A $964,000 city-funded project is on the way to improve safety along Philadelphia Drive, a corridor neighbors have long flagged for speeding and traffic concerns. The project will narrow travel lanes to slow vehicles, add bike lanes along most of the 1.4-mile stretch, and complete missing sidewalks between West Riverview Avenue and Salem Avenue. For nearby residents, this means safer walking, biking, driving, and a street that better serves the neighborhood as a whole.
Miamisburg residents should plan ahead as Buckeye Street will be closed between 6th Street and the railroad tracks starting Tuesday, February 10 at 8 AM. Crews will be working on important sanitary sewer repairs, requiring a full closure of this section during construction. While detours may add a few minutes to daily routines, the work helps keep essential infrastructure reliable for the long term.
