Over 100 Animals Get a Second Chance in Dayton

A Heartfelt Goodbye to Two Very Good Helpers
After years of comforting young patients, two beloved facility dogs: Peppermint and Piper, at Dayton Children’s Hospital are officially retiring from service. The specially trained dogs helped children feel calmer during hospital visits, procedures, and difficult moments. Through the hospital’s facility dog program, they worked alongside medical staff to provide emotional support and bring smiles to countless families. Their gentle presence became a familiar and reassuring part of the care experience for many patients.
