🐱 Record-Breaking Year Fuels MeowZa’s Big Move
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is coming off its strongest year ever, with cat adoptions up 17 percent and foster families contributing more hours of care. That momentum is carrying into 2026 as the organization relocates its MeowZa Cat Boutique to a larger, more visible space at Centerville’s Cross Pointe Shopping Center, opening January 16. The new location sits next to the Dayton Humane & Co. resale shop, making it easier for shoppers to meet adoptable cats.
When Every Second Mattered — Four Dayton-area Women Help Save a Life
At a recent 5K race in Centerville, a runner’s heart unexpectedly stopped, and four women jumped in to help in a way that makes our whole community proud. Centerville Police Officer Katie Gerspacher and residents Gracie Rex, Katie Rublman and Stephanie Clevery took turns performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator until emergency crews could take over, keeping the runner alive. Their teamwork and quick thinking were recognized with Life Saving Awards by the Centerville City Council, shining a spotlight on what neighbors can do when it truly counts.
