When Every Second Mattered — Four Dayton-area Women Help Save a Life

At a recent 5K race in Centerville, a runner’s heart unexpectedly stopped, and four women jumped in to help in a way that makes our whole community proud. Centerville Police Officer Katie Gerspacher and residents Gracie Rex, Katie Rublman and Stephanie Clevery took turns performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator until emergency crews could take over, keeping the runner alive. Their teamwork and quick thinking were recognized with Life Saving Awards by the Centerville City Council, shining a spotlight on what neighbors can do when it truly counts.
