TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Dayton!

Here’s Your Daily Dose of Dayton
Did you know…there is an 800-year-old Native American village sitting quietly on the south side of Dayton called SunWatch Indian Village? Built by the Fort Ancient people around 1200 AD, the village was designed so precisely around a central pole that it functioned as a solar calendar.

The inside track on local happenings:

  • Wright State students danced through the night and raised more than $59,000 for Dayton Children's Hospital.

  • A Dayton-based drone company just made national history with Grubhub, building their aircraft right downtown.

  • The NAACP and Kroger are giving away free Easter hams to Miami Valley families this Good Friday.

Angelina came home from a three day family trip to find sewage rising out of her basement into her shower and toilet. Four to five inches of it.

She called Advantage Plumbing Heating & Air. Dustin and Ramsey showed up, diagnosed the problem, snaked the drain and the foundation line, and walked her through everything they were doing step by step. She now requests those two technicians by name every time she calls.

That's who you're dealing with.

Right now Advantage is offering $89 drain clearing with a one year guarantee. Every job includes a free camera inspection of your pipes so you know exactly what you're dealing with. If they find something, you get an honest estimate. No pressure, no obligation.

A slow drain won't fix itself. The longer you wait, the worse it gets.

Foodie Friday

Dayton foodies, your weekend lineup of must‑try spots is here!

The scRUMptious Dessert
If you have never had a rum cake that actually tastes like rum, this weekend is your moment. Every gourmet rum cake is soaked in real alcohol and finished with a butter rum sauce that makes the whole thing impossibly moist. They also do boozy bundtz in a rotating variety of flavors, and their treats are the kind of thing you bring to a gathering and immediately become the most popular person there.

📍 600 E 2nd St, Dayton📍

Fire Hot Chicken
If your spice tolerance has been feeling unchallenged lately, Fire Hot Chicken on Brandt Pike is ready to fix that. This halal Nashville hot chicken spot serves sliders and tenders loaded with pickles, coleslaw, and fire sauce, with six heat levels running from No Heat all the way up to Blazin' for the truly fearless. The loaded fries have their own dedicated fan following, and wings come in every size from a quick five-piece snack up to a full family order.

📍 5140 Brandt Pike, Dayton📍

Lucho
If you have not been inside the Dayton Arcade lately, this is your excuse. Lucho is a fast-casual mezcal and espresso bar serving tacos, burritos, salads, and some of the most interesting drinks in downtown Dayton, open all day from a morning espresso to an evening espresso martini. The chips and queso are a must-order, and if you have room for dessert, the tiramisu is worth saving space for. Bold flavors, a gorgeous arcade setting, and a crowd that clearly keeps coming back.

🚁 The Drone Company Putting Dayton on the National Tech Map
Dayton-based Dexa launched its first Northeast operations in New Jersey this month, partnering with food delivery platform Grubhub to bring customers drone delivery in under 15 minutes, tracked live through the app, with no additional delivery fee during the test period. Every component of Dexa's drone is manufactured in the United States or in allied nations, with final assembly completed at its headquarters in downtown Dayton. Beth Flippo, Dexa's CEO and founder, is now the first female CEO of a licensed unmanned airline in the United States, a distinction earned after she moved her family to Dayton in 2020 and landed Kroger as the company's first customer.

A Star is Coming to Day Air Ballpark

The Dayton Dragons announced their Opening Night roster this week, and there's one name worth knowing before the first pitch: Alfredo Duno.

The 26-year-old catcher is the top prospect in the entire Cincinnati Reds farm system right now, rated number one by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline among players still in the minors. He led the Florida State League last season in home runs, RBIs, on-base percentage, and seven other major categories, earning league MVP honors in the process.

In short, he's the real deal, and he's coming to Dayton.

The Dragons open their home schedule Tuesday, April 7th at Day Air Ballpark against the Lake County Captains. First pitch is at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available at daytondragons.com/tickets or by calling (937) 228-2287.

Wright State Students Danced All Night and Raised $59,000 for Dayton's Kids

For 12 hours straight, about 100 Wright State University students danced, played games, competed in lip-sync battles, and kept spirits high for one reason: Dayton Children's Hospital. When the midnight fundraising reveal hit, Raiderthon had raised more than $59,000, the second-highest total in the event's 13-year history. That pushes the event's all-time cumulative total to more than $600,000 for the hospital, all driven by student-run organization Miracle Makers. The event's signature moment came when six Miracle Kids and their families took the stage to share their stories, a reminder of exactly who the long nights are for.

Donations are still open at events.dancemarathon.com/raiderthon26 if you want to add to that total.
