Good evening, Dayton!

Here’s Your Daily Dose of Dayton
Did you know…Dayton was once home to Delco, a company founded by Charles Kettering and Edward Deeds that revolutionized the American automobile industry and eventually became one of the most important divisions of General Motors, employing tens of thousands of Miami Valley residents over its decades of operation.

The Dayton Scoop of What’s Happening Tonight:

  • Dayton Children’s plans new Centerville therapy center to expand care for local families.

  • Spring festivals return, starting with the Old Town Trade Fair in Xenia.

  • Dayton tech company DEXA launches drone food delivery pilot with Grubhub.

DAYTON DIGEST

🏥 Dayton Children’s Expanding Therapy Services
Getting specialized care could soon be easier for many local families. Dayton Children’s Hospital plans to expand rehabilitative services into a new outpatient center in the Centerville and Washington Township area, offering treatments like physical, occupational, and speech therapy. These visits often happen weekly, so the additional location is meant to reduce travel time and improve access for families across the region. Hospital leaders say the move reflects the growing need for pediatric rehabilitation services in the Dayton community.

🌸 Spring Festival Season Is Back
Spring events are starting to pop up across the Dayton region as warmer weather returns. One early highlight is the Old Town Trade Fair at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, where shoppers can browse antiques, handmade crafts, clothing, and specialty goods. Events like this typically draw large crowds and bring together regional artisans and food vendors. Expect more festivals and outdoor markets to appear on the calendar in the coming weeks.

🚁 Food Delivery… by Drone?
A Dayton tech company is helping test the future of food delivery. DEXA, formerly known as Drone Express, has launched a pilot program in the Northeast that delivers restaurant meals using autonomous drones. The service works alongside platforms like Grubhub, with drones flying orders directly to customers instead of relying on drivers. If the program expands, it could reshape how takeout and delivery operate in cities across the country.

Dayton Gets Ready for St. Patrick’s Day

Dayton is going green, and it's starting early! While St. Patrick's Day officially falls on Tuesday, March 17, the city kicks things off at The Dublin Pub in the vibrant Oregon District on March 16 at 7:30 PM. Organizers call it Ohio's largest St. Patrick's Day event, complete with live Irish music, hearty classics like corned beef and cabbage, and a sea of green as far as the eye can see.

The holiday honors Saint Patrick, who is said to have used the humble shamrock (☘️) to explain the Holy Trinity. Though blue was originally the color linked to him, green took hold over time, inspired by Ireland's lush landscape and its beloved nickname, the "Emerald Isle." Beyond the Oregon District, bars, restaurants, and venues across Dayton are joining in with themed events and live music all weekend long, making it one of the city's most spirited ways to welcome spring.
