Ohio House Bill 553 would require landlords to notify tenants within 60 days of any missed rent payment, including the amount due, before starting eviction proceedings. This bill is designed to give Dayton renters a fair chance to catch up on rent or negotiate payment plans, potentially preventing sudden evictions. Currently, H.B. 553 remains under consideration in the Ohio House Development Committee, as lawmakers work on strengthening tenant protections to support housing stability across Dayton neighborhoods.
