Good evening, Dayton!

Here’s Your Daily Dose of Dayton
Did you know…Dayton’s Huffman Prairie is where the Wright brothers perfected flight.

In today’s edition, happenings you don’t want to miss:

  • Big updates near Wright-Patt, a long-awaited VA tech upgrade, and winter travel tips to keep you safe.

  • New local spots opening their doors and a heartwarming Black Friday where every pup found a home.

  • This week’s top events, from holiday markets and karaoke nights to festive celebrations across Dayton.

Thick brush, tangled woods, and overgrown acres don’t just make your property look neglected—they limit how you can use your land. Trails disappear. Space gets wasted. And clearing it by hand feels impossible. That’s where Buckeye Land Services comes in.

We now provide high-power forestry mulching, the fastest and cleanest way to reclaim your land without damaging the soil. Our equipment pulverizes brush, vines, saplings, and undergrowth on the spot, turning it into nutrient-rich mulch that improves your soil while leaving your property clean, open, and instantly usable. No burning. No piles. No hauling. Just transformation.

Whether you’re carving out new trails, expanding your yard, prepping for a future build, or finally taking back acreage that’s been untouched for years, our team delivers professional, efficient clearing that dramatically improves visibility, access, and property value. The difference is night-and-day—and most projects are completed in a single day.

Serving landowners across the Miami Valley, we bring the right equipment, the right technique, and the local expertise to make your land work for you again.

THE DAYTON DIGEST

More Apartments Proposed Near Wright-Patterson
Developers in Beavercreek have proposed adding up to 150 to 180 single-story apartments off Colonel Glenn Highway, near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This plan would increase housing density from the original 2007 approval and expand the site from 15 to 30 acres, while correcting outdated calculations in prior legislation. The low-maintenance rentals aim to appeal to airmen, contractors, and office workers in the area, resembling single-family homes. Beavercreek City Council plans to vote on the zoning change in early December, with a full site plan to follow if approved. Read more

Dayton VA Modernizes Medical Records
The Dayton VA Medical Center is transitioning to a national electronic health record system, a shift planned for over two decades after three prior failed attempts. Since midsummer, staff have been preparing the system, which centralizes all veteran health data from military service to the present for easier access by doctors and patients. Monthly, the center serves 10,000 to 12,000 veterans, and the tool will also connect with non-VA providers while aiding families with survivor benefits. Read more

Winter Travel Preparation Advised
Local officials urge travelers in the Dayton region to ready for potential snow and ice during holiday trips, as winter weather could cause major delays. With increased road and air traffic expected, preparation includes checking vehicle kits, monitoring routes, and allowing extra time. Dayton International Airport may see busier lines, so arriving early helps avoid weather-related changes. Safe driving starts with essentials like ice scrapers and full fluids. Read more
