Did you know... Orville and Wilbur Wright grew up at 7 Hawthorn Street in Dayton's West Side neighborhood, and it was in that house and their nearby bicycle shop on West Third Street where most of the intellectual work behind powered flight actually happened - Kitty Hawk was just where they had enough wind.

The forecast is sizzling. Here's where Dayton is keeping things cool.

Summer is turning up the heat, and Dayton is expected to see temperatures in the 90s for much of the week, with heat index values pushing conditions even higher. In response, the City of Dayton has opened cooling centers and splash pads, giving residents free places to cool off while the hot weather sticks around. Officials are encouraging everyone to stay hydrated, take breaks from the sun during the hottest hours, and check on family members, neighbors, and others who may need extra help in the heat. Splash pads are also a great option for families looking to stay active without spending the day indoors. It may be a hot week, but a little planning and a cool place to recharge can make summer a lot more enjoyable.
