Good morning, Dayton!

Here’s Your Daily Dose of Dayton
Did you know...Dayton's own Terrace Park neighborhood was once home to several of the city's most prominent industrial leaders and inventors, whose grand Victorian homes still line the streets as a testament to the wealth and ambition that defined Dayton's golden age of innovation.

Inside Today’s Edition…

  • A new Boys and Girls Club facility aims to double capacity and expand programs for Dayton kids and families across neighborhoods

  • University of Dayton will require AI courses for all students starting fall 2026, reshaping how every major prepares for careers

  • Dayton and Wright State face off April 15 at Day Air Ballpark, bringing a local rivalry to one of the city’s biggest stages

Angelina came home from a three day family trip to find sewage rising out of her basement into her shower and toilet. Four to five inches of it.

She called Advantage Plumbing Heating & Air. Dustin and Ramsey showed up, diagnosed the problem, snaked the drain and the foundation line, and walked her through everything they were doing step by step. She now requests those two technicians by name every time she calls.

That's who you're dealing with.

Right now Advantage is offering $89 drain clearing with a one year guarantee. Every job includes a free camera inspection of your pipes so you know exactly what you're dealing with. If they find something, you get an honest estimate. No pressure, no obligation.

A slow drain won't fix itself. The longer you wait, the worse it gets.

A new chapter begins for Boys & Girls Club of Dayton

The Boys & Girls Club of Dayton broke ground Monday morning on a brand new 37,000-square-foot facility just off West Stewart Street that will double the number of kids the organization serves. The new building is part of the From Here Forward Campaign, which has already raised $15 million of the $18 million needed to make it happen, with $1.4 million in congressionally directed funding secured by Ohio Rep. Mike Turner. The upgraded space will offer programming like cooking classes, driver's license programs, and career readiness planning. Crystal Allen, BGCD's CEO, said the community has rallied behind the mission of helping young people reach self-sufficiency. Dayton Commissioner Chris Shaw, a BGCD alum himself, called the project transformational for the Desoto Bass and White Chapel neighborhoods, and said he believes it will inspire even more people to come alongside.

Gutter Inspection and Cleaning - Your Weekly Dose of Home Advice
Before the first hot day hits, swap out your HVAC filter and give your AC unit a once-over. Check that the outdoor condenser is clear of debris, leaves, and anything that accumulated over winter. Turn the system on for a test run now so you're not discovering a problem on the hottest day of the year. If it hasn't been serviced in over a year, schedule a tune-up before the summer rush drives up wait times.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

The University of Dayton baseball team will host Wright State at Day Air Ballpark on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 PM., marking the sixth straight year the Flyers have played at the home of the Dayton Dragons. Tickets are $10 for adults and children, and students from both UD and Wright State get in free. The RTA Flyer will provide free shuttles between the UD campus and the ballpark. Gates open at 6:00PM. If last year's energy is any indication, this one is going to be loud.

Dayton Flyers women's golf junior Kylee Heidemann earned her third individual first-place finish of the season Sunday, leading the team to a second-place showing at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green at Stone Ridge Golf Club. Heidemann turned in a 36-hole score of 74-72=146 (+2) to claim medalist honors, while senior Christina Pfefferkorn finished tied for sixth at 154 (+10). Heidemann also carded an eagle on the par-four sixth hole during Sunday's second round. The Flyers finished with a team score of 623 (+47) behind host Bowling Green's 613.

Next game: Dayton will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship April 20-22 at Evermore Resort in Orlando.
